What’s on the menu?

Lindyhop
The Lindyhop evolved in the 1920’s from a variety of origins, based on the improvisation of various dancing steps. Lindyhop is a fusion of Charleston, Jazz dance, Foxtrot, Texas Tommy and other dances. As the Hot Jazz era of the Charleston died away in 1927, a smoother musical style developed, and it was named Swing. The associated dance style was simply called Hop. This dance is full of energy, spreading vitality and fun; a vivid dance that underwent a lot of changes over the decades and is still evolving.

Balboa
Balboa is a partner swing dance originating from the US west coast near Los Angeles. Balboa is named after a famous ballroom on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California. Balboa is danced to a variety of tempos, from slow to very fast swing music, and over the past few years became an integral part of swing workshops all over the world.

Levels

We are again offering Lindy Hop and Balboa in 3 levels:

Pre-Intermediate: You already discovered the world of swing dancing and breathed the air of swing before; you are refining your basics and learned some variations. Perhaps you already attended a workshop before and now want to improve your knowledge. So if you want to work on your technique and learn some more moves and variations – this level is for you!

Intermediate/Advanced: You know your basics off pat and while mastering several variations, you like to work on more complex routines. You are attending international workshops on a more or less regular basis and your leading/following is solid with slow and fast music. If you have the dancing skills to play with rhythm, style and technique and thus be creative while dancing the music, then this level is for you.

Advanced: You are dancing regulary for several years, you can dance all basic moves easily and grab complex moves quickly. You are attending international workshops regulary, you can interpret the music in your dancing and you can improvise and adapt your moves to your partner on slow and fast music. Then this is your level.
